There is ART in SpARTa Festival

The Hancock County Writers Group is excited to offer its support to the artists, crafters and artisans that showcased their work in the “There is ART in SpARTa Festival.” You did it. You held Hancock County’s first arts festival and we are hopeful it won’t be the last.  The festival showcased the vibrant creative economy.  Exhibits ran the gamut, from African inspired masks to jewelry, handcrafted salt spoons to fairy houses, paintings to quilts. There was something for everyone.
The art festival was more than looking at beautiful pieces created by Hancock artists, it was about connecting artists with buyers.  The ARTs in SpARTa have the potential to become a cornerstone for economic development. The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) stated “the state’s creative industries generated $62.5 billion in total economic impact in 2015. The creative industries in Georgia represent a combined $37 billion in revenue and employ an estimated 200,000 Georgians statewide, making up five percent of employment in the state.”
Plans are underway for a Hancock County Artist, Artisan and Crafter's Guild that will leverage the success of the art festival and Georgia’s creative economy to develop opportunities for local artist to sell their work.  Please contact Sherry Morrison at sherry@moonlightonrabbittrails.com or 706- 873-3058
